The aim of the school is to break the vicious circle of poverty, crime and unemployment by providing these children with education. A full-time social worker is present at school who guides the students. Social workers are concerned daily with the problems that a student encounters and refuses to be able to focus on school, aspects such as home situation, community and personality are discussed.

Within this position you support the social worker with daily activities. You will attend conversations that the Social Worker has and become involved in any conversations with the families. In addition, you coach and guide students, you organize activities related to sports, music and art. The school has a life skills program that you will actively contribute to and a lot of time is spent on the football program for both boys and girls.

What  will you do?

Our client is a residential facility for children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Because of this disorder, these children are unable to live at home and are therefore cared for here. There is room for around 25 children between 4 and 18 years old. Many of these children go to a school specially for children with FASD. It is a 25-minute drive from the city center, you can use the bus system for this internship or you can take a rental car.

Within the Social Work / Pedagogy internship you support the team with daily activities. The children need support with their daily rhythm, such as meals, doing homework and other activities. You will be in contact with the children a lot and you will have many conversations with the children. In addition, it is important that order is kept. You report back to the supervisor about possible incidents and you think about fun activities / programs for the children.

Minor physio and nursing

Within this internship physiotherapy and or nursing you will support the various therapies. For example, they have a room where they can offer physiotherapy treatments.
